Costume design

Thomas Kaiser has completed professional training as a men’s tailor and ladies‘ garment master.

After working as a department head and ladies‘ garment master at the Krefeld/Mönchengladbach Theater, he worked as a garment master at the Aalto Theater in Essen.

Subsequently, he held the same position at the Lower Saxony State Theater in Hanover and afterwards he worked as costume director at the same theater for four years. He has worked as a costume designer since 2005 and as a freelance costume designer since 2008.

All over the world, he has designed costumes for theatre shows, ballets and operas – including the Bayreuth Festival, Teatro Perez Galdòs Gran Canaria, Staatstheater Mainz, Prinzregententheater Munich, Theater Regensburg, Theater St. Gallen, NNTT Tokyo, Prague State Opera, Theater Coburg and Freilichtspiele Wunsiedel.

Over the years he has worked with Torsten Blanke, Hansjörg Hack, Jörg Mannes, Martin Chaix, Mark McClain, Yuki Mori, Jan Schmidt-Garre, Lydia Steier, Matthias von Stegmann, Christian Stadelhofer, Katharina Torwesten and Katharina Wagner.
